Keoneʻula Committee
Aloha nui!
Keone‘ula is a sub-committee of the Pūko‘a No Nā ‘Ewa Council dedicated to supporting and perpetuating ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i, ‘Ike Hawai‘i, and culturally responsible practices throughout Leeward Community College.
Keone‘ula serves as a campus resource for faculty, staff, programs, and initiatives seeking guidance on the appropriate use of ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i and the thoughtful inclusion of Hawaiian culture, knowledge, values, and perspectives. Our work supports Leeward CC’s kuleana to honor the ‘āina and communities we serve while strengthening the presence and visibility of Hawai‘i’s Indigenous language and culture across our campus.

How We Can Help
Keone‘ula welcomes requests related to Leeward CC programs, initiatives, projects, events, communications, and campus spaces. We can provide guidance and feedback on the use of ‘Ōlelo Hawai‘i, Hawaiian names and terminology, and the incorporation or representation of Hawaiian culture and ‘ike.
Our role is collaborative. We ask those submitting requests to thoughtfully consider how Hawaiian people, culture, language, and knowledge are represented within their work and to engage with Keone‘ula throughout the process when appropriate.

Request Support from Keone‘ula
If you would like assistance from Keone‘ula, please complete our Keone‘ula Intake Form. Completing the form shows your willingness to work collaboratively with Keone‘ula and gives our committee the information needed to better understand your project or initiative.
Once you submit your form, Keone‘ula members will review your request and contact you with feedback, recommendations, or next steps.
Please note: Keone‘ula requests should be specifically related to Leeward Community College programs, initiatives, projects, communications, events, or spaces.
